Sponsorship and partnerships

What is available, what it does not buy, and why the second list is the important one.

The short version

The Copilot Stack is funded by Pro subscriptions and the Enterprise Toolkit. Sponsorship is a third source and it is deliberately constrained, because the thing being sponsored is a site whose entire argument is that its claims are checked. A sponsorship that could move a recommendation would destroy the asset it is buying access to.

There are no sponsors at present. There are no affiliate relationships either: no link on this site earns a commission today.

What can be sponsored

Research sponsorship

Includes

  • A labelled acknowledgement on one published study and its dataset pages
  • A link, marked rel="sponsored", from that acknowledgement
  • Advance notice of the publication date

Explicitly does not include

  • Any influence over the research question, method, or what the numbers turn out to say
  • Review of the draft before publication
  • Any right to delay or withdraw a result that is unflattering

Newsletter sponsorship

Includes

  • One labelled placement in a scheduled issue
  • Up to 60 words, written by us from material you supply, checked for accuracy

Explicitly does not include

  • A dedicated send
  • Access to subscriber addresses, in any form, ever
  • Placement in a message a reader did not opt in to

Tools hub sponsorship

Includes

  • A labelled block on the tools index
  • A link from that block, marked rel="sponsored"

Explicitly does not include

  • Any change to what the Plan Finder, Model Selector or IDE tool recommends
  • Placement inside a tool's results

Site sponsorship

Includes

  • A labelled acknowledgement in the site footer for the agreed period

Explicitly does not include

  • Placement inside Academy lessons
  • Any editorial involvement
  • Exclusivity against a competitor being written about

Editorial commitments

Written as things we will not do rather than values we hold, because the first kind can be checked.

  • No display advertising in Academy lessons, labs or assessments.
  • No sponsored content written by a sponsor, and no sponsored lessons at all.
  • Sponsorship never changes a ranking, a recommendation or a comparison. Those are computed from published datasets that contain no commercial fields.
  • Every paid placement is labelled "Sponsored" where it appears, and every paid link carries rel="sponsored".
  • We will write about a sponsor's competitors, and about the sponsor's own shortcomings, on exactly the terms we would have anyway.
  • No tracking pixels, no third-party ad scripts, and no sharing of reader data with a sponsor.

The last one is worth spelling out. The Plan Finder, the Model Selector and the IDE compatibility tool compute their answers from the datasets published at /data/. Those datasets contain prices, feature support and plan tiers. They contain no commercial field of any kind, the tools cannot read one, and an audit in the build fails if the partner configuration is ever imported by a page that produces a recommendation. That is a structural guarantee rather than a promise.

Why no rate card

Because a rate is a function of audience, and publishing an audience number on a page is publishing a number that stops being true. This site already refuses to state a lesson count in prose for the same reason — it is computed, because it went wrong twice when it was typed.

Write, say what you have in mind, and the reply carries current figures for the specific placement. That is more work per enquiry and it means nobody is quoted against a number from six months ago.

What the audience is, qualitatively

Engineers, platform teams and engineering managers working out how to adopt GitHub Copilot properly: 100 lessons of technical material, three interactive decision tools, published datasets and original research. People arrive from search with a specific question and a decision behind it. It is not a large audience and it is not a general developer audience.

If you sell to people picking an AI coding tool, an IDE, a security scanner or developer infrastructure, that is the fit. If you need impressions at volume, it is not.

Affiliate links

There are none today. The infrastructure to support them exists, disabled, so that if one is ever turned on the disclosure is attached to it by construction rather than remembered — every affiliate link carries rel="sponsored" and a visible disclosure on the page it appears on. As with sponsorship, an affiliate relationship cannot change what a tool or a comparison recommends, because the recommendation is computed from data that does not know about it.

Get in touch

Tell me which placement, what you would want it to say, and the period. A decision usually takes a couple of days, and "no" is a normal answer — most often because the product is one the site would otherwise be writing about critically.

Goes straight to my inbox. No CRM, no sequence, no follow-up unless you reply.

Thanks. That reached me. You will get a reply from a person within a couple of days — including if the answer is no.
